What key do I click to  take a screenshot?

 By default you can press the F9 key to take a screenshot. The screen capture is saved in the Unreal Tournament\System folder & is named shot00x.bmp, where x is a number from 0 - 9. These numbers are determined based on how many shots you currently have taken in the System directory. {note that they are quit big in this format and you may want to convert them to jepg to save space}

How do I do those flips I see others doing in the game?

This is an animation viewed by others when you dodge forward (Quickly tap the Forward key twice). This doesn’t affect your view however during the animation.

What is on the second CD?

CD-2 contains high resolution (1024*1024 in some cases), S3TC compressed textures for use with compatible S3 based graphics cards.         CD-2 also contains UnrealEd, although newer Unreal Tournament patches contain an updated version of UnrealEd.

My Unreal Tournament runs slow, Is there a place I find performance tweaks?

Unreal Tournament tweak guide or TheAdminPage for starters  both should get you running smooth again

Where can I find and  install UnrealEd?

It's contained on CD-2 of Unreal Tournament although, the latest patch contains UnrealEd 2, an updated version of UnrealEd. Basically use the version that comes as part of the patch.

How do i get the boss skin to work?

You may get  his skin in 2 ways. first and best is to  Beat him on the final level, or you can cheat.> Open your User.ini, found in your UnrealTounrnament folder in system folder add these lines at the bottom.

[Botpack.Ladder]
HasBeatenGame=True

Ensure there is a space between the last line and what your going to add  before you add in the 2 lines. Save the changes & load Unreal Tournament.

 Is there anyway I can bypass the CD check?

Yes install the  432 (or  later) the  patch Disables CD checks. Basically install the 436 patch It  will eliminate it  altogether, you will still need to have your CD present to install the patch however.

How can I access the Advanced options menu?

What is the CacheSizeMegs setting & what value should I use for it?

8MB is the recommended maximum size you should set it. Although if you have 128MB RAM + you may want to try larger values (increases performance in some cases).

How can I convert the files stored in the UnrealTournament\Cache directory?

The Cache directory is used to store Map, textures, etc. data which you may have downloaded while playing online.. This data is stored for a certain amount of days, set in your UnrealTournament.ini, after which it gets deleted.

If you want to convert these maps/data then you should run the Unreal Tournament Map Manager utility, which will make this procedure simple. This takes the stress out of having to rename file extensions & such.

How do i get a Unreal Tournament timedemo,

How can I install custom skins & use them online ?

 You will have to edit your UT sys. ini file Open up the UnrealTournament.ini file in the

Unreal Tournament System folder.  Once you have that open, scroll down the list until

you find the [Engine.GameEngine] heading. Under that will be ServerPackages. Scroll

down to the last ServerPackages line and after that line add a new line like this: ServerPackages=nameofskin .........nameofskin is whatever the skin is called, like

 FCommando_xena. Yours will already have the game skins in it.

 Here's a  example of what it will look like

 ServerPackages=SoldierSkins

 ServerPackages=CommandoSkins

 ServerPackages=FCommandoSkins

 ServerPackages=SGirlSkins

 ServerPackages=BossSkins

 ServerPackages=Botpack

 ServerPackages=nameofskin <--- This is what was added

       Close and save your ini that's it your done..  If by some  chance it dose not work go back

       in your ini and check your spelling !  The spelling for your ini is important so be careful.

       If it has a capital letter u have to use a capital letter.....There are no spaces used in the

           ini file so don't use one  ServerPackages=   will always be spelled the same way..

When playing online custom skins may only be used if the skin is installed on the server also.

When I try start a level in single player it won't start (Stays  in spectator mode), but it loads fine. What'swrong ?

Most times

The skins for the Skarrj Warriors are missing. To get the missing skins, download & install the UT Bonus Pack.

Where I can find more Maps/Mods/Mutators/Player models/Skins, etc. ?

well a great place to start is nalicity  for maps and on the right slide list of PlanetUnreal you can find mods and mutators from other sites , either way it s a good place to start ..

What is an aimbot. Should I get it?

An aimbot as the name kind of suggests is a utility/hack which helps improve your aim. Unfortunately it improves aim too much & makes it basically impossible to miss your target, i.e. cheating. No, you shouldn't get it as a result. Aimbots take the fun out of games & no decent player should use them. Don't bother playing online if you intend to use an aimbot.

I run a server, how can I help prevent users from using Aimbots?

CHSP (Client Side Hack Protection) can provide protection against this, & other cheats that users may attempt to use. You can download CSHP here & find out how to Install/Use it here. NOTE - CSHP is intended to be installed on servers only, not on Client/User machines. If you aren't running a server (Dedicated in particular) you do not need this.

Trying to connect to a server running CSHP  I get a Version mismatch error, how can I fix this?

Exit Unreal Tournament. Click on Start, Search, For Files & Folders. Search for CSHP2.* & delete any occurrences of it (Should be contained in your UnrealTournament\System directory).

You should also delete the contents of the UnrealTournament\Cache directory.

I 3dfx Voodoo 4/5, why can't I run in 32bit colour in Glide, is there a way around this?

Glide doesn't support 32bit color so there's no way it will ever be an option to select in Unreal Tournament's display menu. That said, with 3dfx Voodoo 4/5 graphics cards you can force the use of a 32bit color depth. If you wish to use this then take the following steps.

  1. Right click on your desktop & select Properties. Click on Settings then the Advanced button.

  2. Select the 3dfx Advanced Features tab & open the OpenGL/Glide section.

  3. Scroll down to the Rendering Color-depth setting. Change the setting here from Software Controlled to Force 32bpp rendering.

This will force 32bit rendering in all Glide/OpenGL games, regardless of any in-game settings. Don't forget to reset this setting to Software Controlled again after you've finished playing Unreal Tournament.
