The Building and Grounds Committee, chaired by Gary Potter, plans and coordinates a maintenance program for the church and provides a safe, attractive and efficient facility for members and other users.
B & G sponsors Fall and Spring Clean-up Parties, oversees the cleaning service, and also oversees the work of the Information Technology Group.
COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION: BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE
GROUP: BUSINESS AFFAIRS
CHARGE: To plan and coordinate maintenance projects that protect the continued use of the facility in a safe, attractive and usable manner for members and users.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Committee chairman to confer with the church office manager to coordinate the activities and schedule of the custodian/cleaning contractor.
2. Survey the building contents and grounds regularly to assess maintenance needs, correct any unsafe condition.
3. Make arrangements for and schedule any maintenance project. Review specifications, bids and employment of contractors.
4. Coordinate the activities of the biannual work parties and other volunteer work projects.
5. Work with the finance committee regarding the financing of maintenance projects and long range capital expenditures.
6. Manage the building and grounds maintenance projects, custodial expenses and utility usage to keep expense within the committee budget.
7. Provide energy conservation guidelines and make recommendations to control energy usage.
8. Review rental fee schedule with the Finance Committee on an annual basis.
9. Prepare an annual budget for the Finance Committee.
10. Provide the church secretary with a copy of minutes and reports.
MEMBERS: Minimum of six members having some familiarity with building and equipment maintenance, as well as some interest and experience in landscape maintenance.
TERMS OF OFFICE: Minimum of two years
MEETING SCHEDULE: Monthly as required, but quarterly meetings at a minimum.
