The Hoot Family
Missionaries to HAITI
January 1998
Dear Friends,
This is just a letter to let you know whats going on. With sorrow in our heart we must let you know that we will be delayed in getting to Haiti by about a month or so. Five days before our departure date of Jan. 13, our daughter, Kaitlyn, was put into the intensive care unit of Vanderbilt Hospital. Her diabetes had finally gone haywire and the doctors feared severe medical complications, possibly even brain damage. After a day and a half in the ICU, she was released to the pediatrics ward of the hospital. She remained there until Sunday afternoon when she was released. There was no brain damage or other complications. The doctors have informed us that her sugars are adjusting well to the insulin and that we should be able to leave for Haiti in February.
BLESSING
Along with Katies good health, the Lord has blessed us with another beautiful daughter, Emily Grace, who was born on Dec. 13, weighing 7 lbs. 4 oz. On a negative note, with 5 brothers and one energetic sister, shes had to learn some of the more aggressive martial arts.
American Airlines was kind enough to decline the penalty for rescheduling the tickets which would have cost us $600.
Our church family has also been a big blessing to us. With all of our belongings having already been shipped, we had nothing left here but our clothes to last us a month while we waited for Katies blood sugar to stabilize. Our church family has supplied the items we needed to make our short time remaining here enjoyable. Besides many other countless blessings, we have received all of our passports and the light is green to go!
We would again like to thanks all of our supporters and churches who have so generously supplied all our needs. The next time we write you, we pray it will be from Haiti!
You servants in Christ,
The Hoots
