Dear Pastor and Church:

I would like to express our gratitude for your faithful prayers and financial support. Thank you for giving so that you could send us to Argentina to serve the Lord as your missionaries.

Since our last letter, we have seen five souls receive Christ as their Savior, one of them being the father of Laura, April’s friend that she led to the Lord. Please pray that we would be able to win more lost Argentines to Christ.

I want you to understand that I’m not complaining, but I feel that you would want to know the financial burden my family is facing. I knew that it would be more expensive to live here, but it is much worse than I thought it would be. Everything is at least 30% higher due to the cost of transporting goods here from the central part of Argentina. Here are some examples of the prices: milk $3.75/gallon; bread $2.75/loaf; motor oil $5/quart; antifreeze $24/gallon; corn $2.22/can. These are the everyday prices; there are no sales here! The utilities are also very high. We are falling short financially each month and don’t have any money to replace our shoes and clothing that are wearing out and being outgrown rapidly. We need to raise an additional $500 a month just to make ends meet. Would you please pray and consider helping us to continue reaching the lost in Argentina. May the Lord bless you is our prayer.

Your missionary,

Joe Merlo
