What I Learned from Grammy Kit

I learned from Grammy Kit never to give up on something you want. Just because there are obstacles and people in your path, you should always keep your eyes on your goal. Don't give up just because it's hard.
The best things in life are often the smallest. Grammy would often give little gifts but I came to realize as I got older that her tiny gifts were always better than the big, expensive ones.
Never forget the people and loved ones around you. You may get busy, and over look them because you don't have time, but make time. They are as important if not more important than what you are busy with. They will help you in the long run and if you ignore them now, you'll regret it later.
And probably the most important thing I learned from Grammy Kit was to listen. Take time to listen. I would always call her up and ask her to listen to me play the flute. I admit I was horrible back then (not now!!!) but she always listened and always sat still while I played and didn't multi task. She would ask what the song was and clap for me when I was finished. I loved having her to perform for and I knew she enjoyed it, even if I was a bit squeaky. She taught me to listen to the wind, the birds, the people, and the little joys in life. The sweetest things in life are right in front of you.
I love Grammy Kit and miss her incredibly.
