Mrs. Collins welcomed her friend with the liveliest pleasure, and Elizabeth was more and more satisfied with coming, when she found herself so affectionately received. (Pride and Prejudice)

iJane Conference – May 3, 2008 ................Jane Austen Ball – May 4, 2008
Welcome to the home page for the Syracuse Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America. Three people gathered together in 2001 to begin our group. They continued to meet on their own until a news article in the fall of 2002 alerted the general populace to the group's existence, after which the founders quickly gained companions for their discussions. In 2004, the Syracuse Region was recognized by and became part of the Jane Austen Society of North America. Our region now extends through the middle of New York State from the Pennsylvania border in the south to the Canadian border in the north and from Finger Lakes in the west to the Mohawk Valley to the east. We are a very active group, meeting once a month, except during July and August. At each meeting guest speakers explore not only different aspects of the novels, but the art, history, theatre, music, literature and fashion of the times in which Jane Austen lived. Our organization
is non-profit and run by volunteers. Our members are of all ages and
from all walks of life, with equally varied interests in Jane Austen
and her era. We are actively seeking new members and welcome anyone
to join us at any of our meetings. |
