My name is Tom Baustert, I am a retired electronic engineer and live in Rome, NY.
When I retired in 1994 I was Deputy Chief (GM-14) of the Electromagnetic Systems Division and Chief of the Electromagnetic Systems Program Office at Rome Laboratory. At the time, Rome Laboratory was one of four Super Labs operated by the US Air Force.
For my birthday last year (2002) my wife got me a Whites DFX Metal Detector. This summer I bought a second detector, a Minelab Excalibur for under water detecting. For Christmas this year she got me a Periscope pin pointer. I know because I was with her when "she" bought it. She (we) decided she was getting me a Minelab Explorer XS for next Christmas.
My other hobbies include Digital Photography using a Nikon 990 camera. Ham radio, first licensed as WN3ZQT at the age of 12. I am now W2HEO and have 305 countries confirmed. My equipment consists of a Yaesu FT-1000D, Heath SB-200 and lots of other stuff. Golf, (Calloway clubs plus a Yamaha riding cart - my wife plays too). Computers, HP-9800 complete with all the peripherals. Sometimes, when I have time I do a little woodworking with primarily SEARS Craftsman equipment.
The purpose of this Homepage is to discuss metal detecting and show off my finds.
