Bob's Gear Page

My Main bass is a fantastic Trans-red Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 That I bought used. This bass is 4 years old and is one of the coolest Stingray 5's I have ever seen. I love the sound of this bass so much that I tend to use it a lot. I would like to thank the customer service team at Ernie Ball for helping me date this bass.

My second bass is a Honeyburst Modulus Genesis 5-string with Barlolini Soapbar Pickups and the Bartolini NTMB preamp. This is a New option on the Genesis and makes it sound almost identical to a Quantum (since the electronics are literally the quantum electronics) but with a much warmer tone. The body is Alder with a 5A Quilted maple top and a thin slice of graphite sandwiched between. The neck is graphite with maple inserts and a maple fingerboard.

My amp is a very funky and powerful Ampeg B2R head driving a Genz-Benz 4ohm 4 ten cabinet. I also use a SansAmp Bass driver D.I. for ampless feed to my Samson mixer for practice.

All of this Stuff was Purchased from BEAT STREET MUSIC, in Manlius, N.Y. (315)682-3311 (The only MODULUS dealer in the Central New York area)

My Smaller amp consists of a Gallien-Kreuger 200mb that I have been using since 1986. I use it alone for practices but for gigs I usually use it with the JBL E140 that I loaded into the small Genz-Benz 115 cabinet. This makes a wonderful sounding package that is very compact and portable.

Home, late night practice session. I play at home this way for hours at a time and since it's into the headphones I don't disturb others at home. Here I'm plugged into the Bass Driver DI that has a balanced connection into my mixer.

Here's the bass driver DI which is phantom powered by the mixer through the XLR connection.

Then it goes into the SAMSON Mixpad9 which is mixed from the feed to the stereo. The combination CD player/ MiniDisc recorder above the mixer is a very handy tool to Edit music and practice to.

I use my SONY portable Mini-Disc recorder and Stereo Microphone to record gigs, practices, and other bands so that I can learn material. As you can see above, I can play the MD's back on my home system and use the mixer to play along.
