Hello to all!

My name is Kristina and I am a handspinner of natural fibers such as wool, angora, mohair, and dog and cat hair. I have been raising rabbits and handspinning for about 10 years. I am a hand knitter and weaver and I design and create functional pieces of wearable art. These wearable art forms include hats, mittens, scarves, socks, and shawls. The art is in the choice of color combinations and the choice of fiber and technique used. My work has been sold at craft shows and sheep and wool festivals across New York State as well as Massachusettes. Another unique aspect of my work is my custom dog and cat hair spinning service. The pet’s hair is spun into beautiful yarn that becomes a lasting memento of a treasured friend.

Spinning is a timeless art. The spinning wheel has always been a source of magic for me. Growing up listening to the fairy tale stories of Sleeping Beauty and Rumplestiltzkin sparked my spinning wheel interest at an early age. Now I am fulfilling my childhood dreams.

For me, handspinning is a very rewarding experience. I have an insatiable need to create and the spinning wheel offers me an excellent way to explore my creative outlet. There is absolute freedom in the medium required. Endless possibilities abound. It amazes me how a pile of fiber can be turned into an exquisite piece of functional art, and that I can do it.

Spinning grounds me. It brings me back down to earth after a long and stressful day. It brings me closer to nature and to the natural way of things.
