Cherish a keepsake from your own pet’s hair. If your pet’s hair is longer than 1” and has a crimp or waviness to it, then it can be spun into beautiful yarn and made into something special. Just save your pet’s hair when they shed and when you brush them. The fees include washing the hair and preparing it for spinning. This involves 3 to 4 washes to remove the animal’s scent from the hair. The hair is then processed through a carding machine that combs the hair and aligns the fibers parallel to one another for a smooth and even yarn. This step also blends together the natural variations in the animal’s coat and allows for color and texture in the hair to be evenly distributed in the finished yarn. If you feel you do not have enough hair for the amount of yarn you would like, your pet’s hair can be blended with another fiber to make it go farther. If you would like a specific color, custom dyeing is available. Custom knitting and weaving is also available if you would like a finished item.
