Poetry Project
English 7 and 8
Due Date:  Wednesday, May 21, 2008

1.  You will write a paper on a poet/poem that you have selected from the list or poets provided.

2.  The paper will be formatted as follows:

     a.  cover page
     b.  poem page
     c.  dissected poem page with key
     d.  poet's bio (1 page)
     e.  essay on poem's meaning (2 pages)
     f.  a works cited page
     g.  a blank page for teacher's comments

3.  We will cover the above in class discussion so you will fully understand what is expected of you and your project.

4.  In addition to the above, you will memorize your poem and recite it in front of the class.  You can speak about the         poem  for a short while after reciting it - or - you do not have to - that is strictly up to you.  BUT - you must memorize it and recite it.

5.  This project is worth 3 times a test grade.  It is your one huge project of the year, so be ready to spend a lot of time, be patient, and do it well.
