Dear Parents and Children,

Hello to all of you in this wonderful spring season! The children (and teachers) are enjoying time at the playground in this beautiful weather. Please dress the children so that we can go outside if the weather cooperates. Our room tends to get warmer as spring continues so keep that in mind when dressing the children. We have been learning about the season of spring with weather and spring songs. We are watching the leaves come out and the birds at the feeders. We are going to check out our tulips tomorrow and see their new spring growth. We planted them two years ago in the fall. It is very exciting to watch new life in the spring.

We wish to thank our parents for the wonderful Easter parties. The snacks and activities were great. We enjoyed the Easter egg hunts. The children really appreciate snack time too. Our snacks are delicious and provide a wonderful opportunity to encourage good manners and conversation. Thank you for providing snacks each day.

Our preschool was able to provide two wonderful baskets for the Basket Affair. You are always so generous when we ask for items to donate. Thank you again! I hope that you win one at the Basket Affair which is being held this coming Saturday.

Since the beginning of March, we have worked on the letter Gg, Mm (and math concepts of counting, measuring, estimating, and patterns), Qq, and the letter for this week is the letter Rr. We will be learning about how to take care of our wonderful world with recycling, repairing, and reducing (using less). We will also be making litter bags to help in cleaning up our corner of the world. Please show your children how your family recycles and takes care of our world. We will be reading stories and learning the following song called This Land Is Our Land.

We must take care of the land we live in, We must not waste what God has given.
We need clean air and water too. This land was made for me and you.

Chorus: This land is our land, we must respect it. We must protect it and not neglect it.
If we take care of what we’ve been given, This land will stay for you and me.

We will be learning the story of God’s creation of our wonderful world from the book of Genesis as our Bible story this week.

We will be having our Mother’s Day parties on Thursday, May 8 (am class) and Friday, May 9 (am class and all afternoon children). The parties will begin at 10:00 am for the morning classes and 1:15 pm for the afternoon class. A special invitation for Mom will be coming home soon. We are asking that each child earn $3.00 doing some special jobs for you (or for grandparents etc.) to earn money toward their Mother’s Day gift. Please write a little note and tell us what your child did to earn their money. Our budget will cover the rest of the cost. Thank you so very much.

April is the last month for the Pizza Hut Book-It. At the end of this month, the children will get another gift certificate for a free pizza. Thank you so much for reading to them. We also continue to read many stories during our preschool day.

Reminder: No classes will be held this coming Friday, April 25, due to an RCS In-Service Day.

We continue to ask God’s blessings on all of you. Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Gold
