Local Snowmobile Club named
"Club of the Year"
The East Herkimer Sno-Riders Snowmobile club was recently named "New York
State Snowmobile Club of the Year" for the 2004-2005 season. The East
Herkimer club, with 325 members annually, was honored in April during the
New York State Snowmobile Association's Annual Forum held in Auburn, NY.
"The club was selected from the 214 member clubs belonging to NYSSA because
of it's growth and accomplishments in the past three years," said Michael
Denapole, Herkimer County Regional Director for NYSSA. The Sno-Riders are
the creators for the Annual Snowmobile Fun Ride for Missing & Exploited
Children that established a Guinness World Record in February 2004. The
club has ten state certified snowmobile safety instructors that conduct
snowmobile safety operator courses each year. The Sno-Riders hold
fundraising and social events throughout the year and continue to provide
community service during the off season by sponsoring vehicle child safety
seat checks with the New York State Police through the SafeKids program.
"We have a great club," said Jesse Davis, club president. "Each time we
take on an endeavor, our members step up, get the work done and help the
club grow." "I feel lucky to have so many great people," Davis added.
